My 1967 Pontiac Lemans Project

About The Project

This car was a basic shell with a supposed rebuilt 1968 GTO motor that had never been fired (no proofwas given for the rebuild). All the bodywork had been done and it had a nice paint job on it. Thetransmission was a turbo 400 and was supposed to be rebuilt as well.I traveled about 100 miles to go see this car and decided to purchase it while I was there.I had the car shipped and it arrived around 11 PM. Somehow from the time I had seen the car and whenit arrived at my location some damage had been done scraping one side of the car. Needless to say I wasnot a happy camper. The trucker said it was like that when he picked it up and the seller denied ithappened before the trucker got there. At any rate after quite a bit of back and forth the truckersinsurance paid a claim on the car. But that meant it would have to go back to an auto body/paint shop. Not part of my plans.Over a period of 2+ years I had the balance of the work done on the car. It turned out really nice.

See thebefore, during and after pictures. Here is a general list of the work done:

  • Replace front disk brakes and hoses
  • Replace gas tank
  • Body shop repair of transport damage and repaint
  • fuel system connected
  • Engine inspected and fired…it appeared to be rebuilt
  • Transmission would not shift correctly…it had to be rebuilt
  • Installed entire new inside upholstery: headliner, bucket seat foam and vinyl, back seat vinyl, door panels, back side panels and inside rear deck
